Not the game. The sensation of passing through fog. Looking to produce a softer edge and warmer feel to a brushwork, and very happy with the result. For such a simple piece, this took me about forty iterations of tweaking, getting frustrated, and starting over, but in the end I'm glad I spent the time. I'm generally very bad at getting warm tones in a piece that aren't harsh, and this is somewhere close to what I look for in soft brush.
So, I went and looked up some more information on Japanese traditional brushwork, and I'm bloody surprised to find that what little I remembered about gesture process was spot on. Not at all surprised to find that the technique I'm using is wildly off, even if the results are similar.
Tried a few pieces using the traditional technique, got massive hand cramps. Sod that. Back to what I'm doing now.
